Here are some pics of my engine.

Can anyone tell me what type of engine I have. It is in my 1970 Series 2A LAnd Rover, and it is a 2 1/4 litre. What else to I need to know about its specs?

Rear Door Check Series 2A

Here is how I re-installed my rear door check.

This is a 1970 Series IIA. The rear door had an aluminum chequerplate sheet over it , so I had no access to the original channel for the door check rod. That channel is not available as a part and is integrated into the door frame.

I bought a new rod, and then figured out that I could buy a ready made channel for it buy getting one that is made for the Defender. It fit perfectly!

I bolted it on using a hex head bolt, lockwasher and nut on the closest hole because there was already a hole through the door for this (holding on the aluminum chequerplate).

I used hex-head sheet metal screws for the other attaching points because I did not want to drill all the way through the door in order to use bolts.  The stress on the channel is sideways, so I feel that the sheet metal screws are sufficient.

Land Rover Series 2A Engine Noise

Can anyone help me with this engine noise. It is a clakety sound, like a machine gun which occus at the top of high revs before changing gear.

Once in gear, the engine runs fine in the mid-range for the gear and speed. When revving up before the nest gear change, I get that clackety sound. Heard  the most on top of 2nd and top of 3rd gear.

Is this rod knock?

Is this rod knock?

You can hear it at the very beginning of the clip. I'm in second gear revving up to switch to third and it clatters.

Dash with funky wiper switch

What is this grey funky wiper switch in the middle? Looks to be coated in "Plasti-dip"

AND - what is that bulb in the center? It stays lit most of the time as soon as I turn on the ignition switch
